Psychedelum is a fast paced horde shooter with tower defence and deck building inspired elements.
The player must defend a central monolith from waves of enemies, utilising a deck of abilities to counter the various enemy types. These range from stackable modifiers to weapons and deployable defences.
The player can also use advanced movement techniques such as slide hopping, dash transfers and velocity stacking in order to navigate the arena which is set in a dying simulation.
The game was created as part of the sixth module of my University course in collaboration with 3 other students. My responsibilites included creating the original concept, developing all gameplay mechanics and managing other team members, helping wherever needed.
We developed the game using Unreal Engine 5 over a time period of 12 weeks. We used Git based source control and I managed team progress through a Trello board.
I also created the trailer for the game, and presented a build at multiple local industry events to gather feedback and iterate on the design. We then presented the final version of the game as a team to a panel of industry professionals from studios such as Just Add Water and Team 17.
